Burr Consulting
Position held: Research Analyst, 2007-2008
Burr Consulting is a company specialized in Regional Economics and Public Policy Analysis. Its consulting services help the governmental agencies and its leaders with comprehensive economic models, financial analysis, econometric analysis, public policy and political analysis.
In California, there are Local Agency Formation Commissions that supervise the coherent urban development, where municipal services are provided at the highest level of quality. It may seem odd, but the physical boundaries of a city may not be the same with the physical boundaries of a special district. Municipal services like police, fire fighting, drainage, or waste control may be provided by the county or other district.
At Burr Consulting I worked as a Research Analyst and had a great collaboration with Beverly Burr, Jennifer Stephenson, Cynthia Schuster, and Alex Brown. After an intensive training in writing professional reports, understanding Californian agencies and working with raw data sets in Excel, I brought a personal contribution to three Municipal Services Reviews (MSR):
- Amador County Municipal Services Review: this MSR analyzes municipal services like fire fighting, emergency medical response, water, and waste water at the level of Amador County. It also contains policy recommendations to improve them.
- Yuba County Municipal Services Review: the MSR contains a comprehensive analysis of the municipal services from Yuba County like water, drainage, waste water, fire fighting, emergency medical response, police, road ways, parks and recreation, cemeteries, libraries, mosquito control, and solid waste. It also contains determinations, or policy recommendations.
- City of Gridley Municipal Services Review: this MSR contains an analysis of the municipal services from the City of Gridley, in Butte County. It analyzes services like water, waste water, road ways, drainage, police, fire fighting and emergency medical response, parks and recreation, solid waste, and electricity.
