Smart Development Center from Galati and the Young Entrepreneurs Association from the South – East Region of Romania have launched the project “Yes I Can!” under the framework of European Commission’s Human Resources Program. The project has a target group of 410 women from the South – East region of Romania (Galati, Braila, Buzau, Tulcea, Constanta, and Vrancea counties) who will be trained to become entrepreneurs or to acquire skills for a new job.

The main objective of the project is to diminish gender inequalities that are still existing in the Romanian society, by encouraging women to participate on the labor market and engaging them in entrepreneurial activities.

We are proposing three main lines of action:

  1. First, we want to create a Regional Network of Women Entrepreneurs to increase their visibility and promote their success stories. The members of the network will attend activities aimed at increasing the occupation level of other women in the region. They will also promote a correct image of the role of women on the labor market.
  2. Second, we are going to organize training courses on entrepreneurship for 120 women who want to launch a business in the future. These new entrepreneurs will also benefit from mentoring activities, a business school and small grants.
  3. For those women seeking jobs, we are going to organize training courses for jobs in trade, babysitting, and elderly care.

After ending this project, we consider that our regional community will benefit from a better standard of living for women, who will become more active and more empowered to overcome challenges and achieve success.
