Civic engagement on the GOmentorship platform

The new mentorship discussions from the www.gomentorship.ro platform are now in the enrollment phase. This time, I chose the topic “Civic engagement using PoliticiPublice.ro and Public-Policies.eu.” Discussions will begin on March 1, 2011 and will last for three weeks.

I am going to tell the mentees how I came up with the idea of SMART Method of Public Policy, how I transformed that idea into action, what were my sources of funding, what problems I had to face, and what are the results so far. I am also going to make a real world application of civic engagement. Participants in this discussion will chose one or more problems of public concern from www.PoliticiPublice.ro and www.Public-Policies.eu, will brainstorm and publish solutions to those problems and in the end we are going to write policy papers together. These papers are official documents recommending a line of action. They are sent to public decision makers to allocate resources and implement the solutions in the community. So, our participation has a policy making approach, as the policy papers will reach the desks of appointed and elected officials.
