Young Entrepreneurs Association

“Yes I Can” Project Has Ended

pot1The objective of this daring project that lasted for a year and a half was to diminish gender inequalities in the Romanian society by encouraging integration on the labor market of 290 women and developing the entrepreneurial potential of 162 women from the South – East region of Romania. The project was implemented by SMART Development Center and the Young Entrepreneurs Association from the South – East Region of Romania and was financed by the POSDRU Program.

We are now excited to share the main accomplishments that we brought to the local communities we affected:

  • We established the Regional Network of Women Entrepreneurs as a way to encourage participation on the labor market and the development of the entrepreneurial potential of women from the South – East region of Romania. The members of our network got engaged in activities aimed at increasing the level of employ-ability of women in the region and promoting a correct image regarding the role of women on the labor market and in society.
  • We organized six seminars where we debated the principles of gender equality on the labor market and the importance of social inclusion. We hosted employers, members of public authorities and members of local NGOs.
  • We also held vocational courses in areas like trade worker, baby-sitter, elderly care, and entrepreneurship.
  • We held 12 mentorship sessions where the members of our network  taught the participants from the entrepreneurship courses how to launch and develop their businesses.
  • We organized a business school in Predeal for 30 participants who were selected among the participants at the entrepreneurship courses. The members of our network of women entrepreneurs held sessions about success in life and in career. At the end, we selected three winners who received an award of 9,000 lei for the best business plan ideas.
  • A second business school was organized in Lepsa, for 15 women entrepreneurs. This time the awards for the best business plan ideas consisted in counseling and coaching aimed at launching hands on start-ups.

We are now looking forward to growing our pool of entrepreneurs, impacting more peoples’ lives in the local communities we are conducting business.
