The Young Entrepreneurs’ Day was held this year in Galati, on June 10, 2011, at the Cultural House of Students. It brought together members of the Young Entrepreneurs Association from Romania (YEAR), representatives of public authorities, NGOs, partners and approximately 200 high school and college students. This year’s theme was mentorship and support measures for young entrepreneurs who want to establish start-up businesses. Those who shared their entrepreneurial experiences were Florin Jianu – President of YEAR, Bogdan Ciuca – member of the Romanian Parliament from the Conservative Party, Nicusor Ciumacenco – Deputy Mayor of Galati, Marius Andra – President of YEAR, Muntenia Chapter, Sterica Fudulea – Vicepresident of YEAR, Marcel Ionescu – Manager Olma Holding and Empretec facilitator, Horia Mintas – Vicepresident of JEUNE and President of YEAR, North-West Chapter, Ion Dumitrescu – President of the Employers’ Association of Young People with Disabilities. Ciprian Trifan, member of YEAR – South – East, showcased an entrepreneurial start-up endeavor with fire prevention products. The mentorship session was held under the framework of START YOU project.

 

The event was hosted by the Young Entrepreneurs Association from Romania, South – East Chapter and was organized in partnership with the Cultural House of Students, SMART Development Center, Actiunea Newspaper, Libertatea Restaurant, Economic High School Virgil Madgearu, and ARIA Association.

The support measures that were presented to the young people included START Program of the SME Agency and the new law for young entrepreneurs. Florin Focsa, CEC Bank executive and implementing partner of the programs, told the audience about conditions and eligibility criteria to obtain credit for co-financing. As a result, I made two simulations of an investment project valued at 100,000 lei (approximately EUR 27,000) without VAT, accessing the two programs.
